MARCH, 2007: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Living 4 Adventure Launches New Program to Combat Stress
WASHINGTON, DC (February 13, 2007) – With stress at an all time high, Living 4
Adventure, a Washington-based social and outdoor adventure club, has launched a
program to combat stress through a program of outdoor activities such as snow
tubing, paintball, snowmobiling – and for the warmer months – whitewater
rafting, rock climbing and tandem skydiving, among other adventures. The goal of
the program is to give members and guests a new and exciting outlet by which to
relieve tension and anxiety.
"Our excursions are healthy for the body and mind. Even a moderate amount of
activity in a new environment can reduce stress by increasing your heart rate,
upping your oxygen intake, exposing you to new scenery, and providing a healthy
channel for teamwork and comradery," said Keith McLaughlin, President and CEO of
Living 4 Adventure. "Plus, we provide our members the opportunity to gain new
experiences, since we offer many different activities and a chance for them to
do things they wouldn’t otherwise try.”
Living 4 Adventure was founded by McLaughlin and Pamela Cowan in 2000, who
worked together as administrators at an upscale fitness club. Although they
worked in the health industry, they still experienced everyday pressures of the
job, which inspired them to develop an organization that would allow people to
come together for outdoor sport.
“We wanted to give people a place to go for safe, fun, organized events that
promote physical and mental health and well being,” said McLaughlin. “What
better way to give back to the Washington community than to organize trips for
those workaholics and their family and friends who need the stress relief?”
